Who are we and what we do?
We are little server hosting company that started out helping Valve Software build worlds that actually felt alive. From 1999 to 2003 we had a short but awesome partnership with Valve Software, they wanted to make Half-Life 2 to feel realistic. We wanted it to feel alive. So together we created something we call - A DYNAMIC NON-PLAYABLE CHARACTERS! AI that could wander, learn, react, and make every map feel like its own little breathing world.
Each of them has their own little story to tell, occompany player on their missions and make this world feel like it truly breathes on its own.
We originaly created this advanced AI for citizen so they would walk around, react to you, and turn quiet streets into living scenes. Get scared near dangers, and move so realistic that old makes old NPCs from you favorite games feels like a bleak dummies. Thats what our technology is!
Valve created something that was never possible outside of some Hollywood studio, their materials and special effects, rendering techology made a true revolution. Bones and movements system, facial expressions - this what made this game special and gave life to our tech. Then 2003 happened.
Unfortenatly - due to limitations, like technology and financial situation Valve (Yes, we looking at you Sierra) was dealing with of that time, as well as major leaks caused by some users - we were unable to fully utilize the potential of our technology. Our views were simple... Diffrent at that time and we respect Valve as well as what they did to us.
Our vision was getting a bit too ambitious (and honestly, a bit too expensive) for what the tech and budget could handle back then. So we shook hands, wished each other luck.
However, the story doesnt ends here, as we managed to make a clean deal: Valve software was so nice to let us continue exprimenting, wich ment - we could keep using the Source Engine, but anything we built with it can only go public after they release of their magnum opus. Fast forward a bit and here we are. It finally comes to reallity.
Our server-hostings utilizes the infrustracture we embedded inside this engine years ago, wich allows us to create these wonderfull small worlds for our community! Where such peoples like YOU could experiment with it and have fun!
Most of our tools initialy started as internal tools we designed and used during our briefly partner ship, such as Makeface, GRIS or SourceBox and etc. But they grew into the dev suite you can purchase on our Website right now!
Our hostings let you do anything you like - want to play deathmatch? No problem, go on and hop on the deathmatch server, kill them all! Or lets say you want build a quiet street, spawn a bunch of DMNPCs, watch them start moving, learning, wandering, fighting, or just living their little lives. What can we say? YES! Even this is possible, especially thanks to our Development toolkit. You could even invite your friends, mess with behaviors, save the scene preserving it for other people thanks to our Ordinance system!
Build your scenes in Gris, Hammer, and push it to the server with SourceBox, and suddenly your friends are walking into a world that feels like it was waiting for them. This a true sandbox full of possiblities. And we're proud of it.
